Halloween has long marked the calendar for a yearly social shift.

It coincides historically with the traditional times of harvest.  People congregate a little bit more at harvest time since the long hours needed for farming were available for other things through the fall and winter.

Now it marks the beginning of the holiday season when we contemplate others a little bit more because the season of seeing loved ones and gift giving approaches.

Halloweeen also marks shorter daylight hours and the longer nights can set up a craving for some nurturing and comfort food.

Why not use it as a time to implement some self care and perhaps get a pumpkin enzyme peel facial?  It is a great way to stimulate skin cell renewal.

Can’t make it in for a treatment?  Your skin can still benefit from the nutrients pumpkin offers.  Try this soup recipe below. It’s quick, easy and delicious.

Pumpkin Soup Recipe:

1/2 stick butter

One bunch celery

1 large onion

Sauté

Add 6 cups fresh pumpkin

Salt

4 cups homemade stock

1 tablespoon cloves tied in cheesecloth

Simmer all together for at least an hour

Purée

Stir in 1/2 cup heavy cream & 2 tablespoons honey

Serve
